When Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn and Suki Waterhouse marched down the catwalk of Burberry in February, a new season trend instantly unfolded.  Step forward the blanket wrap – the new staple piece for Autumn.  Whilst the kimono proved a tour de force for spring and summer, this loose and open design– also known as the wrap scarf, blanket cape, the list goes on- has reinvented itself to adapt to the transition between seasons.  Having been spotted on a host of famous faces already, it isn’t hard to see why the blanket wrap is taking our wardrobes by storm.

"I wish I had invented blue jeans", said Yves Saint Laurent once upon a time, and it’s isn’t exactly hard to see why. Whilst colour pop brights may be catching eyes with their in your face impact, and prints come and go, there’s a lot to be said for this undeniably classic style that has truly stood the test of time. True blue washes of denim threaten to steal the limelight due to their effortless charm, acting as the go-to piece for thousands, both male and female, each and every day.  It's understated; bold in its subtleties, hence the interest from…well… just about everyone ever?!

So just how did this humble essential transform itself from workman's overalls to ultimate fashion icon? We count down the most iconic denim heroes and travel through some pivotal moments in its fashion history, from Marilyn to Moss. Here is our edit of the best…

Style Profile: Joseph Gordon-Levitt

For so many years Joseph Gordon Levitt remained under the radar, focusing strictly on his craft, to find himself at the heart of the indie film industry whilst also knocking at the door of the some of the biggest blockbusters in Hollywood. He’s come a long way since his days as a casually dressed extra-terrestrial on “3rd Rock from the Sun”, a gawky teen dream in a pair of ill-fitting jeans and hair that would safely disguise him at the back of Hanson, to the dapper tailored-gent he is today.

Here is his style profile:

Bohemian Luxe: 70's Boho Icons

Rich colours and intricate embroidery, a myriad of colour and print, folklore has found itself the ideal platform for this season's fiery lilac tints and navy, washed over a background of cream and embellished with delicate beading and lace. We’ve seen it before, where modern life meets old bohemia; cherry tones and layered paisley print dotted with florals to bring a whimsical summer-to-autumn feel, reminiscent of San Francisco in the 70’s – free spirited and romantic in mind, body and spirit. Loose kimono sleeves and gathered gypsy styles filed under Woodstock ’69 have re-emerged once more, capturing the carefree nature of the original boho movement whilst adopting an all -together more luxurious feel.

From Stevie Nicks resplendent stage presence, all sheer fabrics blowing to the wind, to Ali MacGraw's bare-faced beauty  in 1970’s  Love Story, there are icons who have lasted the ages to set the tone of their time and ours, influencing the way we dress even today. With bohemia set to dominate our wardrobe this coming season, we take a look at the people behind the reason why.

Plus Size: Printed Trousers

August 6, 2014 in with 1 comments Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

For those days when you want more flair to your legwear (asides from flares), printed soft trousers are fast becoming the adventurous staple. Monochromatic paisley is the middle ground between vintage and modern, but a breakdown of colour in the print can be refreshingly amended when teamed with block pastel basics. Brigitte Bardot has made a comeback, or at least in regards to the new fashion neckline. Bringing a new twist to gypsy festival feels, muted tones of purple and burgundy provide an autumnal flavour, creating quite the legwear impression this season. But if being pretty in punk is your sorta crowd, then tartan is proving itself perfect for rebellious streetwear. Time to pick your print…
