Say hello to the long weekend everybody! We think this might be the biggest T.G.I.F. so far? Whilst everyone on the California coast is soaking up the Coachella atmosphere, for once we're not jealous as we have plans all of our own. From the highly anticipated easter egg gorge to some sweet accessories for the weekend, here's whats on the NL Daily radar this week...
The all important prom is coming up, and I’m sure your choice of dress is outweighing how many gold star grades you get. Well, after all, it is the best excuse on the social calendar to have a red carpet entrance (until you win your first Oscar, of course…!) You don’t need to mimic traditional styling to do the prom look justice; this year it’s all about personal expression, with a pinch of glitter thrown in for good measure. If you’re crushing on summer colour like Amber Riley, then neon, pastels and coral are a girl’s best friend. Mary Lambert shows how embellishment can transform muted tones for a modern twist on vintage chic. Then there’s the desirable black dress for those wanting to dress with a glamorous edge. If you’re stuck on what style to go for, see if this breakdown will do the job.
Whilst primary shades as a whole dominated the catwalks, when it really comes down to it only one shade could truly prevail, especially when worn by a princess. Step forward Kate Middleton in not-so-mellow yellow, stepping out on the latest leg of the royal tour and officially curing any winter blues that we may have still had. Opting to go sunny side up, Kate tones the look by introducing panels of white into the mix for a radiant yet sophisticated style.
Consider us obsessed.
A hard days work by the pool in Miami. It must be hard being Kelly Brook. But no-one shows off swimwear quite her, which is why we couldn’t wait to collaborate on another exclusive collection. Taking inspiration from 1950s Americana, bows and frills are back in full force, and a navy, red and white colour scheme channels vintage pin-up-girl glamour. From halternecks to balconettes, and tankinis to polka dot bikinis, this is the season to show off your silhouette in style. Modern day Marilyn Monroe’s, maybe…?
Bold and decadent on the catwalk, geometric cuts and unusual shapes dominated classic designs to bring a fresh twist to what we're used to. Now, it's time to embrace all things shapely when it comes to our everyday wear, whether it be indulging in a pair of skorts in colour pop shades or introducing a flattering flare to a tried and test mini. Play with symmetry, experiment with peplums - just whatever you do, get it shape this season.
Here's our edit of the best way to get some geometry in your life....
No, we’ve didn't get tickets either but that’s hasn't stopped our California dreaming for Coachella, which officially kicked off this weekend. And judging by the endless envy-inducing instagram feeds we were glued to, it seems like a seriously good time was had by all...
Coachella is here, the sky is looking something close to blue, and people have been spotted with ice lollies during their lunch break. After extensive research, this can mean only one thing…summer is coming! Even if you haven’t got a festival weekend booked, there’s nothing stopping you from imitating that rebellious, indie and free spirit style. What better way than a slogan tee!
There’s a slogan out there for everyone. ‘One of dad’s favourite bands’ makes for an alternative print, a neon nod to Californian shores puts some colour out there, and a cute speech bubble lends itself to everyday wear.
It’s National Pet Day, and if you didn’t know, then shame on you! Second to our fashion obsession is an irresistible ‘awe’ at celebrities and their furry companions. Instagram has been hijacked by pugs that steal the show, and cats that couldn’t care less (yes Grumpy Cat we’re talking about you!) So in honour of this very important day, we found our favourite celeb pets that are taking over the web.
