The Girls Guide To Menswear

It’s no lie that most of us are used to Kristen Stewart and Anne Hathaway playing a whole host of parts when in front of the camera, from Catwoman to bookish fashion cupboard interns via pouty teen vampires. However, for their latest role, we see them as never before – as men, or Jenny Lewis’s latest fancy folk anthem “One of the Guys”, the girls swap red-carpet dressing for casual sportswear and facial hair – however it’s the subtleties of their style that interests us the most.

Whilst Adidas tracksuits were the look du jour for their alter egos, we’re more intrigued by their style pre-dress up, with its nod to archetypal masculinity through classic  white tailoring and double breasted detail. Opting for dramatic necklines and a stark summer shade, androgyny has never looked so good which has got us thinking of our wardrobe in a whole new light.

From the myriad of androgynous models who strut on the runways to the now infamous Andrej Pejic once ranking 98th on FHM’s Sexiest Women in the World Poll in 2011, a gender switch-up has been on the cards for some time. This season, the time has finally come for girls to be boys as we brace ourselves for braces and seek out our wardrobe’s male counterparts. Think  box shapes, crisp white shirts and pegged trousers that’ll leave even the most girly amongst us suited and booted for the season.

Switch your skirt to trousers and embrace all things boy this season. Here’s how:
