7 NYFW Catwalk Trends You Can Wear Now

As New York Fashion Week comes to a close and the style set looks to London, we’re talking about all the major catwalk trends from the Big Apple, and how you can wear them now.

Cut-outs and spliced pieces dominated the runways this NYFW, with everything from monochrome sports details to 80s-inspired roll necks the name of the game. Wear your new season bodysuit with a cold shoulder cuts and when the cold hits, opt for a front cut-out to add interest to your soft separates.

Soft, velvet silhouettes were prevalent throughout Fashion Week, with relaxed looks and wrap detailing exuding a romantic aesthetic. Your velvet hero piece is the wrap dress; choose a dark green or a rich burgundy for a nod to the autumn palette.

Growing ever stronger after a stint of popularity in the summer, ruffles are the decadent decoration everyone is coveting this season. Try a blush pink frilled top for a decadent twist on your daywear, or add a subtle ruffle trim to soften a white shirt shape

Known for it’s versatility and effortless beauty, chiffon fabrics made a welcome return to the catwalk and it’s perfect for new season layering. Build the foundations with a simple slip silhouette or black separates, before layering with a sheer midi dress for the ultimate in elegance.

Haute hoodies are the fast-track to cool during the cold weather months and they got the fashion week seal of approval when they made an appearance on a number of catwalks. Think cropped or raw hem pieces for an grunge feel, or for an ode to urban styling, try an oversized badge piece

Whether it’s subtle needlepoint touches, or lavishly adorned patterns, embroidery took front and centre stage this fashion week and there’s never been a better time to embrace it. Wear it on your denim for a feminine touch to true blues, or add stitched florals to you shirt dress, finishing with cold shoulder cuts for that contemporary feel.

Adding your own sartorial stamp to your  outerwear has never been so relevant, and the designers took customisation to new heights this New York Fashion Week, from hardwearing studs to fur pockets and tasselled trims. Add character to your bombers and biker jackets with badge-adorned pieces for a custom-made feel.
